Myton Fields, Warwick
Myton Fields, Warwick will be the start and finish venue for the Cycling Road Races on 7 August. During this time there will be restrictions in place to support the operation of the Games and reduce the impact on local residents and businesses.
Road Closures
The following streets will be closed between 3AM – 7PM* (adjoining roads may also have restrictions in place).
- Myton Road (A425) between Banbury Road (A425) and Myton Gardens. Road Closed from 10AM Wednesday 3 August – 8PM Monday 8 August.
- Myton Road (A425)
- Banbury Road (A425) between Gallows Hill and Castle Hill
- St Nicholas Church Street
- Castle Hill (A425) including Mill Street
- Smith Street (A425)
- The Butts (A425)
- Jury Street, High Street, West Street (A429) between Castle Hill and St Lawrence
- Stratford Road (A429) between Lawrence Avenue and Edgehill Drive
- Shakespeare Avenue
- Henley Road (A4189) between West Street (A429) and B4463
- Old School Lane
- Hampton Road between A4189 and Old Budbrooke Road
- Old Budbrooke Road between Hampton Road and Birmingham Road (A4177)
- Church Lane
- Ugly Bridge Road
- Birmingham Road (A4177) between Hockley Road (B4439) and A46 Roundabout (Budbrooke)
- A46 Northbound and Southbound off slip roads onto Birmingham Road (Budbrooke Roundabout) Road closed from Sunday 7 August 12.01AM – 7PM.

- North Rock (A425)
- Northgate onto Priory Road
- St Johns (A429)
- Coten End (A445)
- Emscote Road (A445)
- Warwick New Road (B4099) between Emscote Road (A445) and Warwick Place.
- Princes Drive (A452)
The following streets will be open with changed traffic conditions between 3AM – 7PM.
- A46 a Budbrooke:
A46 remain open but both slip roads will be closed
- Primrose Hill/Wedgnock Lane, Coventry Road,Greville Road (accessed off Coventry Road – A429) including adjoining roads.
Access to Hospital and Local Businesses/Residents only. No route through Road Race course to Birmingham Road (A425) or Emscote Road (A445) Exit North via A46 only.
- Europa Way (A452) / Old Warwick Road (A425) Roundabout
Access to Europa Way and Old Warwick Road will be maintained. No access to Myton Road or Princes Drive.

About The Route
Races are on the 7th August and current planning is for women’s to start at 0800am, racing for about 3.5 hours and the men’s to start at 12.30pm, racing for about 4.5 hours
Starting on Myton Road, outside Myton Fields, the course heads north, over the River Avon, with a stunning view of Warwick Castle and St Nicholas Park, towards Warwick town centre, before taking an immediate left turn onto Jury Street (A429), past the Collegiate Church of St Marys on the right, Warwick Town Council’s offices, and onto Warwick High Street, with the Lord Leycester Hospital on the right.
The course follows this road until a right turn onto Shakespeare Avenue and then a left turn onto Hampton Road (A4189), opposite Warwick Racecourse. The cyclists then head out towards Hampton on the Hill and the rural section of the course
The course passes through the village of Hampton on the Hill. From here the course takes in the more rural roads of Old Budbrooke Road, Church Lane and Ugly Bridge Road, before a right turn to join the Birmingham Road (A4177), with the cyclists heading back towards Warwick
The course continues on Birmingham Road (A425) via Priory Road to Coten End, Emscote Road and Warwick New Road before turning into Princes Drive
The course stays on Princes Drive, passing Victoria Park, in Royal Leamington Spa, the home of the Birmingham 2022 Lawn Bowls and Para Lawn Bowls competition, until a right turn at the roundabout onto Myton Road.
The final run into the finish is along Myton Road, offering a long straight finish outside Warwick School and Myton Fields.

Warwick district is excited to host the Lawn Bowls, Para Lawn Bowls and the start and finish of the Road Race Cycling event as part of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games in July and August 2022.
Access on Road Race
Plan your trip in advance as vehicle access is limited into town. Parking is available at Warwick Technology Park on this Sunday for the Road Race and can be booked and paid for in advance via https://parkthecarhere.com/Events.aspx?CustomerId=52
This car park is approximately 25 minutes walk from the Festival Site, this platform also allows for disabled parking to be booked on the race day.
Road Closures Leading Up To Commonwealth Games
In readiness of the Commonwealth Games Road Race coming to Warwick on Sunday 7th August 2022, Warwickshire County Council have confirmed there will be road closures and diversions in place.
11th & 12th July 2022 – West Street
Warwickshire County Council are removing centre islands on West Street on 11th & 12th July, from 9.30am to 3.30pm. Two-way signals will be in place
12th July 2022 – Stratford Road
Warwickshire Council Council are removing centre islands on Stratford Road on Tuesday 12th July, from 9.30am to 3.30pm. Two-way signals will be in place
17th July 2022 – Jury Street, High Street & Castle Hill
Warwickshire County Council are removing centre islands and road narrowings and there will be resurfacing of High Street and Jury Street from 13th to 16th July, between 9.30am and 3.30pm. 18th July 2022 – Hampton Road
Warwickshire County Council are removing road narrowings on Hampton Road on Monday 18th July, from 9.30am to 3.30pm. Two-way signals will be in place
18th July 2022 – Old Budbrooke Road (CV35)
Road surfacing will take place on Monday 18th July, from 9.30am to 3.30pm. Two-way traffic signals will be in place
24th July 2022 – Saltisford and North Rock
